Dartmouth Academy talking smart*

Liz, from smart* coaching, went to visit the Vice Principal from Dartmouth Academy (one of our clients), to see how the Academy has cultivated coaching culture through the Personalised Learning Co-ordinators.

Schools are increasingly using coaching to enhance the learning experience for students.  However, there are a variety of different coaching methods being used within education.  Often the words coaching and mentoring are used interchangeably, which can at times cause confusion.

Here at smart* coaching we are keen for schools to learn core coaching skills and then to blend these with mentoring skills.   It is the balance between coaching and mentoring that seems to have the greatest impact on pupils and staff alike.

We have found that once schools have learnt and developed some core coaching skills, they can then adapt these to the particular needs of the school.
